The Agenda

1. Out of date CS/SE academic honors application
   • Wrong course numbers
   • Wrong contacts
   • Can we add a checkbox that new members can check if they want to join the ECS Honors Society? (i.e., we can be given their contact info without problems with FERPA)
   • Can we figure out if pre-reqs for honors classes make sense? (Vitali)
2. Visiting Honors Classes on Thursday, August 30 (getting student contact info, promoting pizza party)
   • Who can visit each class?
   • Who can make the fliers? What should they say? How flashy should they be?
   • Email professors to get permission
   • Don't forget the EE class (Emag 2, TR, 11:30am, ECSN 2.112)
3. Budget
   • How much money we have (Deana)
   • How much we have budgeted for the party (this is more than we have, but SOF will pay back, where are we getting the extra money?)
   • Being more careful with tabs this semester, keeping better track, more than 10% off will yield change of policy next semester?
4. Pizza Party
   • Can we promote to fast-track students, CV students? (some may be honors eligible and not realize it)
   • Send email (talk to Dr. Ntafos) to honors students who are not currently in an honors class
   • Do we want to have a flier around the building like IEEE does? If so, who will make it?
   • How many/what kind of pizza do we want (look at receipt from last party)? Maybe not exactly how many until we get a better head count, but at least the variety...
   • What drinks/snacks do we want to provide?
   • Who can do the purchasing? When?
   • Who is going to the SOF meeting Thursday night to deal with the money request?
5. Establish time and schedule for routine meetings
   • Will this time work? Every other Tuesday: 5:30pm?
6. Set plan for creating an organization logo
7. Promote Honors Website
   • Who do we need to talk to to get it on the ecs page?
   • Mail to student population
   • Add website to our slide on the big TV screens
8. New Slide for big Screens
   • Think of things to put on the new slide, since it is useless to have classes since it is too late to sign up now
   • Who can make the new slide?
9. Engineering week discussion (What can we contribute?)
   • Computer smash - allowed by university? Donate half proceeds to local (poor) high school.. which one?
   • Dunk tank throwing computer things instead of balls - same questions as above
   • Other ideas?
10. Other social events? (We should have some for a "real" org)
    • End of year celebration for graduates?
    • Lan Party? (possibly school wide with admission, or just honors)
    • Board Game tourney?
    • Semester-long project to get undergrads involved?
    • Monthly "camps" to show off different aspects of more advanced topics (AI, networking, graphics, databases) with lessons, projects, and perhaps related guest speaker?
    • Other ideas?
11. Volunteer opportunities
    • Free tutoring for more difficult CS courses (and EE if we get EE members)
    • Tutoring younger children in math and computer skills
    • Other ideas?
