Expected Participants

Expected participants are the Honors Society Officers and the faculty adviser Venky.

Agenda Items

Since this is the first meeting with our new faculty adviser I think that we should focus on global organization goals. Example: What do we want to do? How should we attract members? What drastic changes should be made?

  1. Review of organization mission statement
  2. Discuss plans on the table (set tentative dates?)
    1. Research fair
    2. C++ crash course
    3. (Bi-)Monthly meetings
      1. Pizza
      2. Faculty member give a talk + demo
  3. Set quantitative goals for success
    1. Start a plan for achieving these goals
  4. Brainstorm 'fun' activities that have nothing to do with school, or are at least different.
  5. List enrollement of Fall 2008 Honors classes
  6. Discuss possible cooperation with TSPE (and invite Juan Rivera to our next meeting)

Mission Statement

The ECS Honors Society is a student organization at UTD that was founded to support the ECS Academic Honors Programs with social, service and educational activities for past, present and potential future members of these programs. One of the main goals of the society is to promote undergraduate participation in research at UTD. The ECS Honors Society also participates in forums and coordinating meetings with faculty, administration and other student organizations to promote the opinions of the ECS Academic Honors Programs' students.
